Who pays for my care?

Alpha Nursing is a wholly Australian owned family company that has been operating for the past 16 years. We have a set rate that is fair for the Client, the worker and ALPHA. Private clients will fund their own care.

What is the cost of home care?

Home care rates vary depending on the complexity of the care required, the classification of the Carer, e.g. Personal Carer or Registered Nurse and the timetable that you require the care. E.g. day, evening, night, weekday, weekend, Public Holidays. Please contact our home care team for our latest rates.

What can a carer do in my home?

Carers are able to assist you with the daily requirements of everyday living. For example assistance with toileting and showering as well as any general duties that you may not be able to do by yourself. Carers may also accompany you to your appointments and any social events that you may not be able to attend otherwise. If you are unsure if a Carer is right for you call 1300 493 608 to have a discussion and we will listen and provide options to satisfy your current needs.

What can a nurse do in my home?

Nurses are trained to meet more complex care needs such as post hospital wound dressings, provide palliative and oncology care needs as well as administer medications or treatments that will aid in your recovery. Our assessor will discuss all options with you.

Is my home safe for a Carer or nurse?

There are some requirements that you will need to meet around the house to ensure that our Carers and nurses remain safe whilst in your home. Our home care team will go through these with you and help you address any issues. Most tidy and uncluttered houses will be able to meet these requirements easily.

What qualifications do your carers have?

All Carers are required to hold a certificate III in aged care or disability or higher as well as having both aged care and/or home care experience. We have a stringent recruitment process that ensures that we hire the right staff for the job.

What qualifications do you nurses have?

All Alpha nurses are required to hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board.
We hire our staff based on their nursing experience, passion for the work and after a thorough background check.

What other requirements do you have for your Carers and nurses?

All Alpha Carers and Nurses are required to
Hold a clear and current criminal record check
Where necessary to have a Working with Children Check
Be up to date in first aid treatments
Provide evidence of vehicle insurance If their car is to be utilised.
Meet annual training requirements to remain up to date with new techniques and legislation changes

Will my Carer be different each time?

At Alpha we endeavour to ensure that you have the same Carer for each visit, this of course will depend on the times that your Carer is available to work. We find that to lessen any disruption to your care that it is better to have a minimum of 2 persons to ensure that when one is not available that we have a backup person. However should you be flexible with times we can usually arrange to ensure you have the same Carer each time? If your care requirements are more complex and you require more than one Carer we will always try and divide up the work between a small group e.g. 2 or 3 Carers so that you only receive Carers you feel comfortable with.

What if I don’t like a Carer?

If you don’t like or feel uncomfortable with a Carer or Nurse from Alpha for any reason simply let us know and we will either help you to work towards a solution or provide an alternative person for you. You should always feel comfortable in your home.

Do you provide Carers for independent living units (ILU’s) and Aged or Disability care residences?

Yes we do. We can assist with a 1 on 1 Carer for anyone living in a residence or independent living unit for almost any reason.
